Frequently Asked Questions
What do you need to work on our property ?
All we need is access for a van & a functioning outside tap. Our equipment is petrol powered, so we don’t usually need access to electricity.
If you have difficult access, poor drainage or no water supply, give us a call to discuss. We’re good at working around problems, where possible.
Do you use chemicals ?
Yes. Many jobs benefit from the use of a chemicals, whether it be a cleaning solution or moss killer applied after washing. We use a range of products to achieve the best results, dependant on the material being cleaned, level of soiling, the weather & the environment, but if you prefer us to use nothing but water, it’s no problem.
Do you charge by the square metre ?
Because no two jobs are the same, it’s not possible to price by the area alone. On smaller, more simple jobs, it’s possible to quote from a couple of photographs, but prefer to meet with customers on site, survey the area & discuss any concerns, issues, etc, before quoting, so we all know what we’re doing & what to expect.
Do you clean roofs ?
We don’t, but we know someone who does.
Will it damage my pointing ?
If you have old pointing that is breaking up or held in place by gravity alone, invariably, some of it will come out during washing, however we’ll discuss this with you if we have concerns & use the most suitable cleaning technique for the job.
Resin pointing can be an issue, as some of it is very soft & cannot be jet washed without damage. Once again, we will check it, discuss any concerns & choose the best technique for the job.
We have working relationships with other local contractors who we recommend & work with to re-point paving where problems exist.
Are you VAT registered ?
No, we’re not VAT registered, so we don’t charge you VAT. The price we quote, is the price you pay. No surprises.
We do not ask for deposits & only invoice a job upon satisfactory completion.
We accept bank transfer, cheque or cash as payment.
Do you come to Leeds/York/Timbuktu ?
We tend to work within a 10(‘ish) mile radius of Harrogate during the busiest time of year (March to July), getting round our regular customers, but happy to travel further afield, when we’re less busy.
